Smith.ai Pricing (2026): AI Receptionist Cost per Call & Plans

Smith.ai sells three ways to answer your phone, and all three bill per call, not per minute. The AI Receptionist (AI-first) is free for 25 calls a month and then starts at $150 a month for 75 calls. Hybrid lets AI answer every call and hands the important ones to a live agent, from about $2.50 a call. Human-first puts a live receptionist on every call, from $300 a month for 30 calls. Every price below is from Smith.ai's own pricing pages, read October 26, 2026. Cozzo hasn't test-called Smith.ai, so there are no measured results on this page.

Smith.ai counts calls, not minutes, so a chatty caller costs the same as a quick one. Count last month's calls (not minutes), then find your row in the table below. Under 25 calls a month? The AI Receptionist is free.

Smith.ai pricing 2026: AI Receptionist free for 25 calls, Pro from $150/mo for 75 calls ($2/call). Hybrid and live-receptionist plans and monthly costs.

Smith.ai AI Receptionist plans (AI-first)

AI answers every call 24/7. All plans include Quality Studio (test before you go live), recording, transcription and summaries, lead qualification and routing, AI scheduling (Calendly and more) and native integrations such as Clio and Zapier.

AI-first: 30 calls = Free plan + 5 extra × $3.00; 90 calls = Pro 75 + 15 × $2.50. Human-first: 75 calls on Basic ($810) beats Starter plus 45 extra calls ($817.50); 150 calls = Basic + 60 × $10.50; 500 calls = Pro + 200 × $8.50. Smith.ai's own Hybrid table lists “full human support” lower than its Human-first plan cards at 75, 150 and 500 calls ($750, $1,350 and $3,500), so ask Smith.ai which applies to you. None of these include add-ons.

Cost at your call volume

Every pick that publishes computable prices, priced in the unit it actually bills: minutes, calls or unique callers. Cheapest first; change the numbers to match your business.

Your numbers are remembered on this device and carried to Cozzo's other cost calculators.

  1. $94.80/mo

    Lowest at these numbers

    Starter: $79 plan covers 100 unique callers + 20 extra × $0.79 = $15.80.

Billed on unique callers (120 at your numbers). Billed per unique customer per month, with no per-minute charges, so repeat calls from the same person and long calls don't add cost. Pricing page

  2. $139/mo

    AI Receptionist: $49 plan includes 150 min + 450 extra min × $0.20 = $90.

Billed on minutes (600 at your numbers). Inbound-only receptionist plan: 150 min included, then $0.20/min. Pricing page

  3. $149/mo

Scale: $149 plan includes 1,000 min.

Billed on minutes (600 at your numbers). English & Spanish on every plan. No overage rate is published, so Cozzo picks the smallest plan that covers your minutes. Pricing page

  4. $189/mo

    Business-in-a-Box: $99 plan includes 200 voice min + 1,000 overage credits (about 40 min) + 360 extra min × $0.25 = $90.

Billed on minutes (600 at your numbers). 200 voice minutes plus a monthly pool of 1,000 overage credits (about 40 more minutes). After that each minute is 25 credits ($0.25) via auto-reload. The vendor moves businesses above 25 interactions a day to custom Partner/Enterprise pricing. Pricing page

  5. $239/mo

    Business Plus: $199 plan includes 500 min + 100 extra min × $0.40 = $40.

Billed on minutes (600 at your numbers). Overage billed per minute above each plan's bucket. Bilingual (EN/ES) starts on Business Pro. Pricing page

  6. $385/mo

    Pro 150: $270 plan covers 150 calls + 50 extra × $2.30 = $115.00.

Billed on calls (200 at your numbers). Billed per call, so call length doesn't matter. Calls from known spammers are filtered out and don't count; Smith.ai also lets you remove up to 10% of calls a cycle as spam (re-checked 2026-10-23). At 1,000+ calls a month Smith.ai quotes custom pricing. Pricing page

Assumptions: published monthly prices before tax, cheapest plan that fits, no annual discount, no add-ons, English calls. Plans without a published overage are only used up to their included amount.

What to check before you choose

  • Count calls, not minutes. Smith.ai bills every answered call the same, so long calls are where it beats per-minute receptionists like Rosie or Dialzara, and lots of very short calls are where it loses.
  • Stay on Free while you're small. 25 calls a month cost nothing and 30 calls cost $15, so a quiet office can run the AI Receptionist for free or close to it.
  • Don't move to Pro just for price. On Free, 75 calls cost $150 (50 extra × $3.00), the same as Pro 75, so below 75 calls Free is cheaper. Pro earns its fee with onboarding and live support, and with lower extra-call rates once you pass 75.
  • Pick the right Pro size. 90 calls cost $187.50 on Pro 75 with extra calls but $270 on Pro 150, so only move up once you regularly pass about 123 calls.
  • Price add-ons in. On Human-first plans booking appointments is $1.50 a call and recording is $0.25, which can add a lot to a $7 to $10 call.
  • Healthcare? Smith.ai says it is not HIPAA-compliant, so patient calls with health details need a vendor that signs a BAA.
  • Compare like with like. Smith.ai's AI-first, Hybrid and Human-first are three different services; most AI receptionist rivals only compete with AI-first.
